Chewelah School District

Governor Inslee expanded the school closure order to all Washington schools, including Chewelah School District, effective Tuesday, March 17 through end of the school year.

Meals will continue to be delivered to student’s bus stop Monday through Friday, and will follow the one hour late start schedule each day of the week.  For the safety of our employees and our students and families, we are asking that everyone follow safe social distancing by maintaining a space of 6 feet between individuals.  To help with social distancing, a suggestion was made to have a box or container at the drop off point to place meals in to avoid the hand to hand contact.  If you have any questions, please call the district office at 685-6800, ext. 1002.

Columbia School District

2019-2020 School Year

Students will not return to the halls of Columbia Schools this school year, however, that does not mean learning will cease. There are many unanswered questions at this time. We must all think about learning in a different way. We must focus on project-based learning, where a student learns in many content modes (ELA, math, science, history, shop, P.E., etc.) as she or he completes a project. The richness of face-to-face learning cannot be replicated online; however, we can still have rich and creative learning. In twenty years the world will remember this time by how we react to this emergency and how we expand our connections to one another. This emergency when handled with care – saves lives. Everything else can be fixed or re-scheduled.

Be safe, Think creatively, Spread hope, Remain Healthy.

~Dr. Bill Wadlington~

Wellpinit School District

Beginning Monday, March 23, Wellpinit School District will begin to distribute emergency meals related to the COVID-19 Emergency School Closure. We will be distributing both a Grab ‘n Go Breakfast and Lunch free of charge.  Due to staffing limitations we will be serving meals on Monday’s, Wednesday’s, & Thursday’s. We want to ensure our students get a full week of meals so Monday’s meal will include Tuesday’s, and Thursday’s will include Friday’s meal. Both meals, breakfast & lunch will be distributed at the same time.  This is for any child 0 to 18 years of age it does not matter if they are a student in our district or not.  Adults are not allowed to participate in this Child Nutrition program.  Children “MUST” be present to receive meals.  No exception, per program regulations.  The delivery person must see the child before any meals will be given.

THERE WILL NOT BE ANY MEALS SERVED THE WEEK OF APRIL 6-10TH.

We will do our best to keep a safe distance and will take all necessary precautions to limit contact as recommended.  Our kitchen will be disinfected daily as well as all delivery containers.  Be assured our staff will be following all food safety guidelines while preparing and distributing meals.

What we will need from parents and guardians is notification that they would like their family to participate.  We are sending out a district wide phone call, and will be asking that you call the school back to help us with getting a count of participants so we know how many meals to prepare.  We know we may not reach everyone; it will at least give us an estimate.  PLEASE CALL ERICA @ 258-4535, Ext. 03113 and give her your name, how many kids will be participating and which location they will be at.

While we are still working out the logistics, we would like to offer a centralized delivery service to families in the West End and Ford areas.  We will be at Kurt’s Corner from 9 to 10:30am for the Ford area families, and at Pappy’s Corner from 11:30am to 12:30pm for the West End area.  Be looking for a Wellpinit School Van.  Wellpinit families we will have a “drive-thru” pickup at the Middle/High School parking lot, near the front entrance for your meals, from 10am to 12pm. For families that cannot pick up a meal at any of these locations, please call so arrangements can be made.  We will try our best to get meals to the kids.

Thank you for allowing us to ease the burden even just a little bit.  For more information contact Celia Stearns at the District Office (509) 258-4535, ext. 04002

  • When: Kurt’s Corner from 9-10:30am, Pappy’s Corner from 11:30am-12:30pm, or pick up at middle/high school parking lot from 10am-12pm.
